Split Horizon (2025)

Urbanity from the Ocean: Blurred Boundaries

August 2025.

“Split Horizon” is a meditative exploration of tension, stillness, and the fragile boundary between environments. Shot in both the UK and Taiwan, the film unfolds in a vertical split-screen: the upper frame remains fixed on the sea—constant, moving, expansive—while the lower frame follows two performers amidst the quiet textures of a woodland landscape in the UK.

Through restrained choreography and slow motion, the performers inhabit a space of minimal gesture, evoking the delicate rhythms of ecological and emotional stillness. As the film progresses, an undercurrent of tension emerges, suggesting the inevitable pull between presence and separation, serenity and disruption.

Rooted in the dualities of location, the ocean’s omnipresence and the intimacy of the forest, this work contemplates the layered relationships between human beings and their environments—fluid, dissonant, and quietly interdependent.
